Description
This Banana Bread recipe with sour cream yields a moist and delicious loaf. It’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack.

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- In a small bowl, mash the ripe bananas.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the mashed bananas and sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter.
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- Store leftover banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
