Description

Cloud eggs, also known as cloud toast, are a visually appealing and delicious way to enjoy eggs. This recipe offers a simple and comforting dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 slices of bread, toasted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese, chopped chives, red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Separate the egg whites from the yolks into two separate bowls.
  3. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Gently fold in Parmesan cheese and chives, if desired.
  5. Place the toast on a baking sheet.
  6. Spoon the whipped egg whites onto the toast, creating a nest-like shape with a well in the center.
  7. Bake for 3-5 minutes, or until the egg whites are lightly golden brown.
  8. Carefully place an egg yolk in the center of each egg white nest.
  9. Bake for another 2-3 minutes, or until the yolks are cooked to your liking.
  10. Season with additional salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use whole wheat toast and add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the egg white mixture.
  • Adjust baking time based on your oven and desired yolk consistency.
  • Be careful when separating the eggs to avoid breaking the yolks.
  • Serve this dish immediately for the best taste and texture.
