- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
Instructions
- Combine cranberries, water, sugar, and orange zest (if using) in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a smoother sauce, you can press the cooked cranberries through a fine-mesh sieve.
- Store leftover cranberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- You can use frozen cranberries instead of fresh. No need to thaw them first.
