Make spooky and delicious creepy spider cookies for your Halloween treat.

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Black licorice strings
- Chocolate chips or candy eyes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Cut the black licorice strings into small pieces to create spider legs.
- Attach the licorice legs to the sides of the cookies using a dab of melted chocolate or frosting.
- Add chocolate chips or candy eyes to the top of the cookies to create the spider’s eyes.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough.
- You can use different colors of licorice for the spider legs.
- Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
