Description

Make spooky and delicious creepy spider cookies for your Halloween treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Black licorice strings
  • Chocolate chips or candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  6. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Cut the black licorice strings into small pieces to create spider legs.
  8. Attach the licorice legs to the sides of the cookies using a dab of melted chocolate or frosting.
  9. Add chocolate chips or candy eyes to the top of the cookies to create the spider’s eyes.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough.
  • You can use different colors of licorice for the spider legs.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
