- 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and dried
- 12 ounces chocolate chips (dark, milk, or white)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- Sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or other toppings
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Moisture will prevent the chocolate from sticking.
- Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, coating about three-quarters of the fruit.
- Place the dipped strawberries on parchment paper.
- Immediately decorate with sprinkles or other toppings before the chocolate sets.
- Refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
