Description
A classic Thanksgiving stuffing recipe passed down through generations. This stuffing is savory, moist, and packed with flavor, sure to be a holiday favorite.

- 1 loaf day-old bread, cubed
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until lightly toasted.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add ground sausage to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- In a large bowl, combine toasted bread cubes, cooked sausage mixture, sage, thyme, and pepper.
- Pour chicken broth and beaten eggs over the bread mixture and toss to combine.
- Transfer stuffing to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
Notes
- You can substitute the ground sausage with Italian sausage or vegetarian sausage.
- For a moister stuffing, add more chicken broth.
- Add dried cranberries or chopped apples for extra flavor and texture.
