- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly.
- Shape into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
- Cut a cross on top of the loaf.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
