Description

Classic meatloaf recipe with a sweet and tangy brown sugar glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, onion, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, and mustard for the glaze.
  5. Spread the glaze evenly over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until cooked through and the glaze is bubbly.
  7. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef.
  • Add your favorite spices to the meatloaf mixture, such as garlic powder or Worcestershire sauce.
