Description

Miso soup is a savory and umami-rich Japanese soup.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups dashi (Japanese soup stock)
  • 2 tablespoons miso paste (shiro or awase)
  • 1/4 cup wakame seaweed, soaked in water
  • 1/4 cup tofu, cubed
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat dashi in a pot over medium heat. Do not boil.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk miso paste with a little of the dashi until smooth.
  3. Add miso mixture to the pot and stir well.
  4. Add wakame and tofu to the pot.
  5. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, do not boil.
  6. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust miso amount to your taste.
  • Use different types of tofu.
  • Add other vegetables like mushrooms or carrots.
