A hearty and comforting dish featuring layers of cabbage and seasoned mince, simmered to perfection.
Ingredients

- 1 large head of cabbage, cored and shredded
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Layer half of the shredded cabbage over the meat sauce.
- Pour half of the meat sauce over the cabbage.
- Repeat layers with remaining cabbage and meat sauce.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1-1.5 hours, or until the cabbage is tender.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers.
- Adjust seasoning to your taste.
- For a richer flavor, use beef broth instead of water.
