Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter, unfed/discard
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix well.
  4. Stir in the sourdough starter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
