Description

Strawberry Tanghulu is a delightful Chinese candied fruit snack. Enjoy the sweet and crunchy sugar shell with fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, washed and dried
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Optional: Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Thread strawberries onto skewers.
  2. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan.
  3. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  4. Stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it reaches a light amber color (hard crack stage 300°F or 150°C).
  5. Quickly dip each strawberry skewer into the hot sugar syrup, coating evenly.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle with sesame seeds immediately after dipping.
  7. Place skewers on a greased surface or parchment paper to cool and harden.
  8. Enjoy immediately for the best crunch.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry for the sugar to adhere properly.
  • Work quickly as the sugar hardens fast.
  • Use caution when handling hot sugar syrup.
  • If the sugar starts to crystallize, add a tablespoon of water and reheat gently.
