- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 0.5 lb ground Italian sausage
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 0.25 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg, beaten
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 0.25 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well with your hands until evenly combined.
- On a large sheet of parchment paper, flatten the meat mixture into a large rectangle, about 1 inch thick.
- Layer mozzarella cheese slices and fresh basil over the meat.
- Carefully roll the meatloaf up tightly, starting from one end. Pinch the seams to seal.
- Brush the outside of the meatloaf with olive oil.
- Place the meatloaf on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Serve with marinara sauce.
Notes
- You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with provolone or any other cheese you like.
- Feel free to add other vegetables to the meatloaf, such as chopped onions or bell peppers.
- For a spicier meatloaf, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.
